Cost of Athletics

The Auburn University Athletics Department is entirely self-sustaining and does not receive state funds. Private contributions become more important in providing our student athletes the resources needed to compete at the highest level and succeed academically. The Tigers Unlimited Foundation is committed to advancing Auburn Athletics to be the best school for the best athletes in the nation. Our members, who are friends, alumni, and advocates of the university, recognize the value of intercollegiate athletics and enthusiastically participate in a variety of ways.

The Champions Fund is designed to support the overall development of student-athletes. This fund provides an opportunity for donors to support Auburn Athletics and the programming that provides student-athletes with crucial academic tutoring and mentoring, sports medicine and nutrition, equipment and safety, and much more. The annual cost to fully fund each student-athlete is estimated at $116,898. This cost will rise even higher in the new age of college athletics. The Champions Fund is also a crucial aspect of Auburn Athletics' ability to meet the new revenue share requirements, estimated to be roughly $20.5 million, and full scholarship funding, estimated to be approximately $5.49 million.
